A dental crown is a ceramic covering for a tooth that has been weakened due to decay or if the tooth has become excessively discoloured. The crown is usually a ceramic cap added to the top of the patient’s tooth. This cap is usually made of porcelain, however, it can also be made from a range of different materials.
A bridge is a series of crowns bonded together by a “bridge”.

Are dental crowns and bridges suitable for everyone?
Both tooth crowns and tooth bridges are used when a tooth has become compromised due to decay or decolourisation. Bridges are suitable for closing gaps where teeth are missing, however, sometimes an implant may be the better option for replacing missing teeth.
Sometimes were issues with the gums are identified, tooth crowns and tooth bridges may not be suitable.
Our Terenure dentist will recommend if crowns and bridge dental work is suitable for your unique dental requirements.
